Education
is understood today, as in the words of Gandhiji as “… all- round drawing out
of the best in the child and man – body, mind and spirit.” In other words,
education is the balanced development of all dimensions – physical,
intellectual, psychological and spiritual – of the person. Basically, education
is socialization – the process by which a person becomes the full-fledged,
contributing member of the society. It, hence, implies that education need not
be synonymous of schooling, school just being one agent of socialization.
However, schools and colleges exist only for the purpose of educating the
members of the given community / society.
At Nirmala
Shiksha Bhawan, we understand the immensity of this responsibility placed on us
and its realization has been our relentless effort since its inception in 1965.
This being a herculean task, we highly value the collaboration of the entire
school family – the students, parents, maintenance, administrative and teaching
staff, as well as the community around us.
Throughout
human history, value based education has been the defining factor for the
preservation and development of human race and human societies. This continues
to be our primary concern in establishing and running NSB. Through the
curricular and co-curricular activities of our school, we strive to inculcate
in our students, moral rootedness, intellectual competence, emotional maturity,
the sense of sacredness about oneself, others and the environment, concern for
justice, equality and peace, and respect for social, regional, linguistic and
religious diversities of our country and the world at large with the conviction
that our students would grow into ideal citizens and nation-builders.
Recognizing
the importance of education for women for their own well being and to become
equal partners in the building up of the family and nation, we have a
preferential option for the girls in the admission and education process;
concern for the poor do influence our policies at NSB.
As the NSB
family marches ahead and strives towards excellence as a center of education, we remain ever grateful to Venerable Mary Ward,
the Foundress of the Congregation of Jesus, and a torch-bearer in the field of
education for girls; we continue to appreciate and hope for the cooperation and
collaboration of all stake holders.
